The Aurora University women's tennis team opened the 2015 season with a pair of road Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference contests at Concordia University Wisconsin and Milwaukee School of Engineering.
AU dropped the first match of the day at Concordia Wisconsin 7-2 with
Chloe Madison winning at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-4) and Madison and
Micaela Mascha winning at No. 1 doubles 8-6.
The Spartans rebounded in the second match to defeat MSOE 6-3. Madison and Mascha were once again victorious at No. 1 doubles 8-2 but the Spartans trailed 2-1 after doubles action. In singles play, Madison (6-2, 6-2), Mascha (6-1, 6-3),
Melanie Findlay (6-1, 1-6, 6-1),
Haley Cooley (6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3)) and
Jamie Huff (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) were winners to give AU and first-year Head Coach
Ausra Brooks her first collegiate coaching win.
With the split, AU is 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's tennis team comes on
Wednesday, September 9 when they travel to Elmhurst College. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m. in Elmhurst, Illinois.
