Bethany Dorrington had a triple-double in the game with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, She also moved into third on the AU all-time scoring list with 1,385 points.
HOW IT HAPPENEDAn evenly played opening 10 minutes led to a 20-20 score at the end of the first period.
AU started the second period on a 6-0 run and led 26-20 just 1:30 into the period.
After a 7-0 Edgewood run gave them back the lead, AU answered with a 9-0 to end the period.
Going to halftime, AU led 37-29.
Midway through the third, AU held the games largest lead of 11 points at 46-35.
An 11-2 Edgewood run cut the Spartan lead to two (48-46) late in the third period.
At the end of three periods, the Spartans led 54-50.
AU held a seven point lead 61-54 midway through the fourth as Edgewood began fouling the Spartans.
Edgewood tied the game 62-62 with two minutes to play.
The Spartans shot 0-3 from the field in the final minutes and fell 65-62.
