The Aurora University Spartan baseball team snapped a losing skid with a series split wth Rockford University on Tuesday.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTSNicholas Mathey was two fo four with one run batted in.
Jeff Woods was one for one with a double and one run scored.
Nick Turner was two for four.
HOW IT HAPPENEDThe Spartans loaded the bases in the first inning with two outs but left everyone stranded.
Rockford scored the first run of the game in the fifth courtesy of a walk and two AU errors.
The game remained 1-0 until the seventh when a lead-off walk by Rockford was followed by two more AU errors that saw Rockford plate a pair and lead 3-0.
The visiting Regents added an insurance run with two hits and a suicide squeeze in the eighth.
AU got their bats going in the ninth though, As the Rockford pitcher approached 150 pitches and two outs,
Jeff Woods doubled and was followed by a
Jeff LaPage single.
Nicholas Mathey singled to score Woods and brought the tying run to the plate. But after a Rockford pitching change, the final AU out was made.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTSJacob Stockman threw the complete game on the mound. He struck out 12 and scattered six hits while allowing two runs.
Jeffrey Mayes was three for four with one run scored and one run batted in.
Cole Davis was two for four with two runs batted in and one run scored.
Dillon Popovich was one for three with two runs scored and two runs batted in.
HOW IT HAPPENEDWith two outs in the bottom of the first, AU took advantage of the free pass. Two walks and a hit by pitch were followed by a two run single from
Nick Turner and AU led 2-0.
In the bottom of the second, AU went to work again and were aided by the free pass once more. Back to back walks to start the inning followed a single and a wild pitch to score
Nicholas Mathey.
Dillon Popovich then singled with one out to score two more Spartans and AU led 5-0. Later in the inning, AU drew two more walks to load the bases when
Cole Davis singled to score two runs and AU led 7-0 after two innings.
AU pitcher
Jacob Stockman was solid on the mound, not allowing a Rockford hit until the fifth.
Rockford scored a run on Stockman and the Spartans in the sixth after a lead-off walk came around to score.
The Spartans added a run in the eighth with a Davis lead off single and he eventually scored on a single from
Jeffrey Mayes.
In the ninth, Stockman battled the Regents, allowing one run but kept the bases loaded when the final out was made.

Next action for the Spartan baseball team comes on Saturday, April 16 when they travel to Lakeland College. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
