Spartans run past Rams in men's lacrosse

The Aurora University men's lacrosse team played a home game on Vago field Sunday against Cornell College. The Spartans controlled the game and captured a dominating victory 24-3 over the Rams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
AU jumped out to a quick lead and led 4-0 only 2:08 into the game.
When the first quarter was over, AU led 9-0 and was 10-of-10 in face-offs, controlling all facets of the game.
By the 10:22 mark of the second quarter, Spartan Trevor McNamara had seven goals and would finish the day with two more.
AU led 16-1 at the halftime intermission.
Much of the same was in store in the second half as AU played all dressed players and went on to win easily 24-3.

FOR THE SPARTANS
Trevor McNamara had nine goals and two assists.                  
Bailey Smith had three goals and five assists.
Jason Koziol had two goals and three assists.
Matt Smidlein had one goal and one assist. He picked up 14 ground balls and was 23-of-25 in face-offs.                                                          
AU dominated at the face-off dot, winning 27-of-31 face-offs.
The Spartans were also nearly perfect in clears, going 27-of-29.
