The Aurora University men's track team competed in the 2016 NCC Gregory Final Qualifier Track and Field meet as well as the Augustana College Midwest Twilight Qualifier as a final push to get personal records and send as many athletes as possible to nationals. A pair of Spartan athletes who were able to punch their tickets to nationals was high jumpers
Brian Rudelich and
Austen Stewart. Both jumped 2.05m to tie the school record.
Junior
Jimmy Baeskens capped off his excellent season by breaking his own school record in the 5000 meter race with a time of 15:17. Sophomore
TJ Pitcock had an incredible day by running a personal record of 1:56 in the 800 and doubling back in the steeplechase running a school record of 9:46 in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Another robust performance was that of senior hurdler Kalmon stokes who won the meet in the 400 meter hurdles with an NACC conference record time of 51.71s, which has him ranked second in the nation. Kalmon was not done setting conference records for the day because he was a part of the men's 4 by 400 meter relay, also consisting of junior
Jaylen Robinson, junior
Miroljub Marin, and sophomore
Terry Moore; they ran a NACC conference record time of 3:15.
