The Aurora University men's track team had their first indoor meet of 2017 by opening up at the Phoenix Invitational at University of Chicago. Picking up where they left off in December, the Spartan men had an array of strong performances setting the bar high for the season. The Spartan Men placed second overall in the meet with 161.5 points only behind University of Chicago who scored 220 points.
Freshmen Jeremiah Cooley had a fantastic day by placing second in the 800 meter race with a 2:00.17 and also contributing to the 4 by 400m relay's first place finish with a time of 3:29.19 along with Senior
Miroljub Marin, Senior Jalen Robinson, and Junior
Terry Moore. Senior
Brandon Davis had a huge PR in the pole vault breaking the school record with a mark of 4.40m which placed fourth in the meet. Junior thrower Ryan Njegovan placed first in the meet and broke the school record in shot put with a throw of 16.87m. Junior
Brandon Pichen had an excellent day in the weight throw placing first with a mark of 17.68m.
