Homecoming arrived on the Aurora University campus as the Spartan women's volleyball team got the weekend off to a great start with an exciting 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-21) win over Edgewood College on Friday night.

Katie Vondra had a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs.

Emily Lines had 32 assists, six digs and two kills.

Karli Chambers had nine kills in her two sets of action.

- AU had nine blocks as a team on the night with 16 assisted blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- AU jumped out to a quick 8-4 lead in the opening set and forced an Edgewood timeout. Edgewood rallied after the timeout and the teams would battle late into the set.
- The Spartans found themselves down 23-20 but AU would score six of the next seven points with the Spartan blockers coming up big, scoring three of the points down the stretch.
- AU won in exciting fashion 26-24.
- In the second set, AU took the lead 8-7 and never trailed again though the set was once again tightly played.Â
- Leading 20-18, the Spartans once again were strong down the stretch and won 25-20.
- AU led 3-1 in the third set but would fall behind and trail by as many as six points at 18-12.
- Following the well timed timeout from AU Head Coach
James Seitelman, the Spartans roared back, out-scoring Edgewood 13-3 including a final 10-1 run to win 25-21.
