On Wednesday, October 25 when the Aurora University Spartan men's soccer teams welcome the Cougars of Concordia University Chicago to Spartan Athletic Park, the teams will be playing for a newly created tradition. Kickoff of the game is set for 7:00 p.m.

AU Head Coach
Ryan Lakin and CUC Head Coach Michael Arango, longtime friends and colleagues, collaborated on the idea of creating a competition trophy when the men's soccer programs square off on the pitch. That conversation expanded into the idea of a Veterans Cup.
Â
The Veterans Cup is designed to raise awareness and appreciation to military veterans both foreign and domestic with Coach Arango's father Steve being a veteran.
Â
The winning team will be presented with the Veterans Cup and each year when the teams compete, the trophy will go to the winner of the contest.
Â
In honoring all military veterans we want to thank them for their service in the past, present and the future. Without their dedication to our country, we could not enjoy all the wonderful freedoms that we have today.
Â
Both the Spartans and Cougars would like to thank the members of Post 84 and the Aurora University Veterans Association for their service and leadership in making the Veterans Cup come to fruition
