Women's Soccer - NACC Tournament Preview 2017

The Aurora University women's soccer team will enter the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tournament for the eleventh straight season. The Spartans finished the 2017 regular season with a 7-8-1 overall record and 7-2-1 in the NACC. AU earned the third seed and will host the sixth seed Benedictine University Eagles at Spartan Athletic Park on Sunday, October 29 at 5:00 p.m.
 
Match-up -
The Spartans will take on Benedictine University in the first round of the conference tournament. AU defeated Benedictine University in the regular season 1-0 in double overtime.
 
All-Time NACC Championship History –
- AU has won eight of ten season tournaments going back to the start of the NACC in 2006.
- Two other teams have won a conference tournament - Edgewood College in 2008 and Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2015 and 2016.
- AU is 110-9-3 in the past nine seasons in the NACC regular season and 20-3 in the NACC Tournament.
- The Spartans went to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the first time in history in 2014.
 
About the Spartans –
- Freshmen Jessica Ortiz is the leading scorer on the Spartans with eight goals and two assists.
- Sophomore Alexis Abelove has seven goals and four assist.
Corynne McEachern finishes up the top 3 Spartan performers with five goals and four assists.
- Aurora made the NACC championship game in 2015 as the #4 seed and has played in the NACC Tournament final in 10 of 11 seasons. . 
 
About NACC Opponents –
- Milwaukee School of Engineering enters as the #1 seed with a conference record of 9-1-0
- Dominican University enters as the #2 seed with a conference record of 8-0-2
- Aurora University enters as the #3 seed with a conference record of 7-2-1
 
Up Next for the Spartans –
With a victory over Benedictine University, the Spartans would travel to #1 seed Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and play at 7:00 p.m. or #2 seed Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois, where game time is set for 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1 regardless of the opponent.
