Spartans have season end in NACC quarterfinal

The Aurora University women's soccer team hosted Benedictine University in the quarterfinal round of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament on Sunday evening. AU led 2-1 but a pair of late goals saw the Spartans season end in the quarterfinal 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aurora took the eight minutes into the game on a cross from Celeste Martinez to Beth Robbins who scored from just inside the box.
- Benedictine responded quickly on a goal from Danielle Melotte in the eleventh minute.
- Aurora retook the lead on another cross from Celeste Martinez, this time to Alexis Abelove who headed it pass the keeper.
- Benedictine tied the score up again with a goal from Taylor Pokorny that went through the 5 hole of the keeper.
- In the 56th minute Jessica Ortiz had a great look at scoring but was shut down quickly by Cassidy Henson the goalkeeper.
- Less than a minute later Benedictine pressured the Aurora defense and then ended up scoring on a corner from Danielle Melotte, then Megan Anderson made a touch pass to Jocelyn Ferrer who ultimately put it in the back of the net to take Benedictine's first lead.
- The Spartans pressured in the final minute but came up empty and fell in defeat 3-2.

The Aurora University women finish the 2017 season with a 7-9-1 overall record and were third in the NACC with a 7-2-1 record
