The Aurora University men's basketball team was upset in the semifinal round of the 2016-2017 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament on Friday night, falling to the No. 3 seeded Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After AU led 2-0, CUW took several four point leads in the opening four minutes of play.
The Spartans used a 6-0 run with four points from
Marcus Myers to take the lead (14-12) with 14:30 to play in the opening half.
A three by Myers with 11:40 to go gave the Spartans a five-point lead (21-16).
As the teams traded baskets, AU continued to lead by five with three's from
Chris Mahoney and
Ty Carlson.
With six minutes to play, AU led 32-27.
A CUW 8-2 run helped them regain the lead but the Spartans answered right back and a three from
Pat Kramp in the final minute sent the Spartans into halftime leading 42-38.
Just as they had in the first-half, the Spartans and Falcons went toe-to-toe trading baskets in the first five minutes of the second-half.
A 7-2 AU run was capped off by a
Chris Mahoney three and with 13:17 to go, AU led 61-56.
CUW used a 16-3 run with under nine minutes to play to take a commanding nine point lead (79-70) with 4:45 left in the game.
The Spartans did not go away though, using a 13-4 run with nine points from
Max Vickers and with 47 seconds left in the game, the score was knotted up 83-83.
CUW knocked down a three after a timeout to regain the lead and after making free-throws, knocked off the Spartans 90-86.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
The Spartan men finish the season with their 24th consecutive winning season.
AU falls at home in the NACC Tournament for the third consecutive season, second in three seasons to Concordia Wisconsin.
CUW senior Eric Kittle became the all-time leading scorer for the Falcons.

FOR THE SPARTANS
Marcus Myers had a game-high 24 points, six rebounds and shot 10-of-16 from the field.
Max Vickers had 19 points and seven rebounds.
Matt Dunn had 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
