AU women fall to the Stars

The Aurora University women's basketball team fell to the Stars of Dominican University on Tuesday night in Thornton Gymnasium 82-60. The Spartans welcomed their pen pals from Creekside Elementary School in Elgin, Illinois to the contest as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Spartan Adriana Ramirez opened the AU scoring with a jumper 1:38 into the game.
Dominican followed with a 10-2 run to open up an eight point lead midway through the first quarter.
Back to back threes from Alyssa Brems pulled the Spartans to down four (14-10) less than a minute later.
An 11-2 Dominican run opened up the game as AU would trail 25-16 after one quarter.
The Spartans opened the second quarter and getting to within six (25-19) before Dominican pushed the lead back up to double digits.
A 5-0 AU run to close out the first-half brought the Spartans to within eight (38-30) heading into halftime. A three from Alex Hultine was the final basket of the opening half.
After seeing the Stars build a 17-point advantage, the Spartans responded with a 15-5 run behind seven points from Ally Van Bogaert. With just over three minutes to play in the third, AU trailed by seven at 52-45.
After three quarters, AU trailed Dominican 60-46.
An 11-0 Dominican run to start the fourth quarter put the game out of reach for the Spartans as they would go on to lose by a score of 82-60.
 
FOR THE SPARTANS
Ally Van Bogaert had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Alyssa Brems had 14 points on four-of-six from three-point range.
