The non-conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon at Wheaton College saw the Aurora University softball team split, dropping game one in a tough late inning defeat 5-4 and then rebounded in game two to win 7-4.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- The Spartans were aided by a pair of Wheaton miscues in the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Laura Dierking and Abbey Rosenow had run scoring singles in the inning.
- AU added a run in the fifth with a lead-off single from Steph Starr who scored on a single from Dierking. The Spartans led 4-0.
- Through the first five innings, Wheaton managed just one hit off Spartan starter Britni WIlson.
- In the sixth, Wheaton got three hits and scored one run to cut the AU lead to 4-1.
- With none on and two outs in the seventh, Wheaton pieced together five hits, a walk and a hit by pitch to score four runs and win the game 5-4.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- In the first inning, Elaine Walker reached on an error and scored on a double from Dierking.
- Wheaton got a run in the first and two more in the second to take a 3-1 lead.
- The fourth inning saw the Spartan bats come alive with two outs. Josie Bachtell doubled to score Abbey Rosenow and Bachtell scored on a Lauren O'Daniell single to tie the game. After a Wheaton error, AU scored twice more and led 5-3.
- The Spartans added a run in the fifth when Steph Starr reached by a hit by pitch and scored on an error later in the inning.
- Wheaton got two hits and a run in their part of the fifth to pull within 6-4.
- Starr scored an insurance run in the seventh when Taylor Moore singled giving AU and pitcher Kaylee Hayton a three run lead at 7-4.
