The Aurora University softball team split a doubleheader with Dominican University on a cold and windy Thursday afternoon with the Spartan offense coming alive in game two. The game two win clinched the Spartans annual appearance in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
- The only scoring of the game came in the top of the fourth inning as Dominican scored a pair of runs, aided by a couple Spartan defensive miscues.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
- The Spartans scored runs in each inning.
- Back to back doubles with two outs by
Josie Bachtell and
Taylor Moore in the first inning gave AU a 1-0 lead.
- In the second,
Elaine Walker cleared the bases with a three run double and AU now led 4-0.
- Dominican got one run in the third with Spartan pitcher
Cat Yanis wiggled out of the jam with only the lone run allowed.
- The third inning saw a run scoring ground out from
Mandey Shrader push the AU lead to 5-1.
- Four hits including a two-run double from
Taylor Moore pushed three more runs across in the fourth and AU now led 8-1.
- Yanis continued to keep the Stars off balance setting up the Spartan bats in the bottom of the fifth.
- Shrader led off with being hit by a pitch and with one out, back to back singles from
Elaine Walker and Steph Starr loaded the bases.
Josie Bachtell then hit a ground ball to second that the Star defender threw to first and when Shrader crossed the plate, AU was victorious 9-1.
