Aurora University softball had senior student-athlete
Laura Dierking named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team, which was announced on Tuesday.
A senior outfielder, Dierking (Naperville, Illinois/Naperville Central H.S.) was selected for her combined performances in the classroom and on the field.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America teams are selected by CoSIDA member sports information directors based on the student-athletes' academic prowess while being a steady influence on their respective athletic field. To be considered for the honor, the nominated student-athletes are required to maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average throughout their academic career at AU.

Dierking was selected as a Third-Team All-America honoree for the second consecutive year. She recently graduated as a criminal justice and business double major and was the Aurora University Lincoln Laureate recipient.

On the season in 2017, she is hit .293 with 19 runs, 23 runs batted in, four doubles and two home runs. As a junior in 2016, Dierking was named a Third-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America, First-Team All-Conference and First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District. She was named a NACC Scholar-Athlete in 2013-2014, 2015-2016 and will be in 2016-2017.

The AU softball team finished the 2017 season with a 28-16 overall record.
