The Aurora University men's track and field team had a strong showing at the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Geneva, Ohio at the SPIRE Institute.
The Spartans finished 12th overall with 19 points with individuals scorers coming from
Ryan Njegovan in the discus where he was the individual national champion accounting for 10 points and he finished fifth in the shot put for four more points.
On the third and final day, Spartan
Brandon Pichen competed in the hammer throw, where he finished fourth with a throw of 57.86 meters / 189'10". His fourth place finish earned him five points and All-American honors.
With the national championship by Njegovan in the discus, he becomes the first Spartan men's outdoor track and field champion and following his indoor national title in the shot put, now holds the only two national championships as a team or individual in AU history.
With the conclusion of the NCAA Outdoor Championship, the 2017 season has finished for the Spartan men's track and field team.
