Spartans advance to MLC Tournament Final with defeat of Beloit

The Aurora University men's lacrosse team coasted to a 12-5 victory in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament semi-final over Beloit College Wednesday afternoon on Vago Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half of the opening quarter, Nick Glaser scored off a JK Torres to give AU a 1-0 lead.
- Just before the quarter ended with 9.9 seconds on the clock, Joey Lucchesi scored on a feed from Jason Koziol.
- The second quarter saw Bailey Smith score three times  with assists from Sam Hiss, Koziol and Trevor McNamara.
- AU led 5-0 at halftime.
- The Spartans continued to dominated in the third quarter, taking an 8-0 lead with goals from Koziol, Ben Arends and JK Torres.
- Beloit scored just before the end of the third as AU took an 8-1 lead into the fourth.
- AU added three more tallies early in the fourth to lead 11-2 as goals came from Trevor McNamara, Lucchesi and Koziol.
- Beloit added three goals in the final three minutes but were never a real threat.
- JK Torres ended the AU scoring with his second of the day with 2:29 left.
- Tyler Lombardi was strong in net, stopping 15 shots on the day for the win.
- AU was victorious 12-5.

- The Spartans will play in their sixth consecutive MLC Tournament Championship game.
- AU is now 11-2 all-time in the MLC tournament.
- AU will compete for their fifth consecutive MLC Tournament Championship.
