The Aurora University men's soccer team posted a shutout win to wrap up the inaugural Spartan Classic on Vago Field. An early goal by Noe Padilla held up as the Spartans went on to win 3-0 following a pair of late tallies.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A few minutes into the game the Spartans had the games first scoring chance with Henry Zehnall having a pair of shots stopped by the Alma keeper.
- In the 16th minute, AU struck with the games first goal. Justin Rutherford found Noe Padilla 15-yards out and Padilla put the ball in the net.
- Spartan goalkeeper Phil Lewy made several highlight saves in the first-half to preserve the 1-0 advantage.
- With 1:30 to play, Spartan Christian Duarte led a 2v1 that became a one on one for Xavier Ortiz and the Alma goalie. Ortiz's shot was stopped by a sprawling save.
- At the half and a very exciting first session, AU led Alma 1-0.
- Early in the second-half the intensity of the tightly played game increased the physical play from both sides.
- In the 83rd minute the Spartans picked up the pressure. Collin Foreman created a shot with the rebound finding Xavier Ortiz wide open in front of the Alma net and he buried the shot. AU led 2-0.
- Minutes later, Edgar Soto fed Jeremey Perales who buried the shot and AU led 3-0, the eventual final score.
