The Aurora University men's soccer hosted the Spartan Classic on Vago Field and opened the weekend of action with a 1-0 victory over Augustana College. The Spartans dominated the score sheet but only managed the lone goal of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A scoreless opening 45 minutes was not indicative of the game action. The Spartans dominated the tempo and possession but were stymied by the Augustana goalie.
- In the 69th minute, AU struck. A cross field pass from Justin Rutherford to Collin Foreman saw the junior break free and find the back of the net.
- Leading 1-0, AU maintained the pressure with a couple chances hitting the pipe and crossbar. 
- Late in the game, Spartan goalie Phil Lewy made an A+ save on one of the few Viking scoring chances to preserve the shutout win.
