Spartans bring the noise in win over Thunder

The Aurora University women's volleyball team dominated the action in a 3-0 non-conference victory over the visiting Thunder of Wheaton College.

LOCATION: Lancaster Court in Thornton Gymnasium - Aurora, Illinois
RECORDS: Aurora University 10-5 overall; Wheaton College 10-9 overall

HOW IT HAPPENED -
- The Spartans found themselves down 4-1 to open the first set of the match but following a timeout by Wheaton while they were serving, the Spartans responded in a big way.
- AU finished the set on a 24-5 run, hitting 407 in the set.
- The second set saw AU hit very well again (.366) but the set was tied 16-16 before the Spartans closed out the set with a 25-18 win. With Makayla Fincher at the service line, Katie Vondra had three kills with Emily Lines dropping one in herself while handing out 15 assists in the set.
- The third and what would be final set was close throughout but the hot hitting Spartans (.366 in set three) prevailed.
- AU hit .376 in the match, led by .800 from Lindsey SImpson. She had 12 kills in 15 attempts on the night.
- The Spartans only had seven total hitting errors on the night in 109 total attacks.
