Overtime unkind as Spartans season ends in NACC Tournament

The Aurora University men's soccer team saw the 2018 season come to an end in the semi-final round of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. Au fell 3-2 to Dominican in a beautifully played contest that saw AU roar back from a 2-0 deficit to send the game into overtime.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans trailed 1-0 early in the seventh minute after Dominican scored on a loose ball that found its way off the post and into the back of the net.
- The Spartans had several scoring chances in the opening half but missed high or wide on the shot attempts.
- AU trailed 1-0 going into the second half.
- The deficit grew to 2-0 in the 66th minute when the Spartans appeared to have the momentum until a long cross found a Dominican player in the box who found the back of the net.
- AU appeared to be down and out until Jeremey Perales found himself with the ball in the box where he was fouled. 
- Collin Foreman took the penalty kick and made quick work and decreased the deficit to 2-1 in the 79th minute.
- Just one minute later AU tied the game when a corner kick opportunity found Andrew Grabowski who knotted the game up at 2-2 in the 80th minute.
- The two teams took the game to overtime tied up at 2-2.
- Early in overtime AU had three shots in the box saved by the Dominican goalkeeper and the game continued.
- In the 96th minute AU fell to Dominican 3-2 after a golden goal found the back of the Spartan net.

UP NEXT
