The Aurora University men's hockey team was strong in all facets of their game on Friday afternoon as they easily soared past the visiting Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin, 5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans and Falcons played and up and down open game over the first part of the first period with
Josh Boyko and his Falcon goalie opponent making a few stops.
- AU then struck first at 9:23 with
Liam Stirtzinger scoring what would hold up as the game winning goal. He was assisted by
Jack DeMatteo on the play.
- Three minutes later,
Shawn O'Malley made the score 2-0 Spartans.
Jacob Holmers added a helper.
- Boyko and the Spartans took a 2-0 lead to the first intermission.
- 35 seconds into the second period, the Spartans started to take complete control of the game.
Cameron Beaudry found his own rebound and buried the second chance and AU led 3-0.
Drew Doyon and
Dylan Rauh had assists on the play.
- The AU defense and Boyko kept the shutout in order as they went to the second intermission leading 3-0.
- AU killed off a couple penalties early in the third period and then struck when they went to a power play.

Brayden Sampson buried the shot on the power play with assists to
Roberts Baranovskis and
Larry Jungwirth.
- Well after the play, a Falcon player took a cheap shot on Spartan
Drew Doyon and received a five minute major and a game misconduct, putting the Spartans back on the power play for an extended time.
- With 4:40 to go and time slowly running down on the major power play chance, AU scored again. Holmers scored with assists from
Anthony Tzveyn and
Riley Doyon.

Josh Boyko made the goose egg remain on the scoreboard for the Falcons and the Spartans were victorious 5-0.
