Spartans get a point with tie against Foresters in season finale

The Aurora University men's hockey team played their final home game of the 2017-2018 season on the Fox Valley Ice Arena ice on Saturday evening. AU recognized the three seniors who have been part of the program since AU became an NCAA playing school, Ron Lindgren, Anthony Pnewski and Rihards Marenis prior to puck drop.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A power play goal and another at even strength put AU down 2-0 with 7:59 to go in the first period.
- The Spartans answered with a tally 58 seconds later from Liam Stirtzinger. He was assisted by Brendan Logan and Anthony Pnewski.
- A few minutes later and on the power play, AU tied the game. Drew Doyon scored the game tying goal with assists to Stirtzinger and Jack DeMatteo.
- The game remained tied 2-2 until late in the second when LFC added another power play tally.
- Though AU answered back with a Danny O'Donnell goal and assists credited to Chris Nowacki and Drew Doyon.
- AU goalie Max Kirkwood and Lake Forest's netminder kept the game tied 3-3 through the third and five minutes of overtime.
- The two Illinois schools played to a tie in their respective final regular season games.
