The Aurora University Spartan women's basketball team had explosive first and third quarters on Saturday afternoon as they blew past the Rockford University Regents 89-51.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- AU never trailed in the game and after the game was tied 2-2, the Spartans went on a 17-4 run to lead by 13 with 2:50 to go in the first.
- The Spartans later ended the first on an 8-0 run to lead 29-11.
- AU built a 23-point lead 34-11 early in the second quarter but the Regents started to claw their way into the AU lead.
- Rockford finished the second on a 16-3 run and the Spartans found their lead in single digits entering half at 42-34.
- The third quarter resembled the first with the Spartans using defense to transition into instant offense.
- A 32-7 AU run in the final 7:30 of the quarter pushed the game well into the Spartans favor.
- AU led 76-45 after three quarters.Â
- AU was able to get all dressed Spartans into the game and were victorious 76-45.
