The Aurora University Spartan baseball team returned to action on Thursday morning following an off day and defeated Ohio Northern University 5-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED -
- AU loaded the bases in the first inning but left them stranded.
- Ohio Northern scored a run each in the second and third innings to grab a 2-0 lead on the Spartans.
- AU pushed across a run in the sixth with singles from Jeff Mayes, Davis Purviance and Cole Davis.
- The Spartan bats came alive again in the seventh. A Bryan Larsen double scored Austin Wiskow to tie the game. Later in the inning, Jett Wedekind doubled to score Larsen and AJ Gill and the Spartans led 4-2. Purviance then singled to score Wedekind and when the inning concluded, the Spartans led 5-2.
- The Spartans then went to the bullpen and Nick Mathey hurled two innings of no-hit, one walk ball, allowing one run in the ninth. Chris Roycroft came on in the ninth and collected his third save of the season as AU was victorious 5-3.
