The Aurora University Spartan softball team split a doubleheader at Lakeland University, winning 2-1 before falling in 13 innings in heart-breaking manner in game two, 8-7.

GAME ONE - HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans loaded the bases in the first inning but a double play ended the scoring threat.
- The game was scoreless until the sixth.
- AU scored a pair of runs in the sixth with an
Abbey Rosenow run scoring double and
Lara Salazar drove in pinch runner
Jessika McCleskey with a single.
- Spartan starter
Steph Renner was able to get out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh, only allowing one run as AU won 2-1.
GAME TWO - HOT IT HAPPENED
- Lakeland scored a run and had the bases loaded but AU starter
Britni Wilson got a strikeout to end the inning.
- Four singles and a walk in the second saw AU plate four runs and lead 4-1.
- Lakeland tied the game in the bottom of the second with three runs on four hits.
- AU went to
Steph Renner in the third inning in the circle and the game remained tied 4-4 for the next six innings.
- In the ninth,
Brianna Lewis led off with a double and scored later in the inning on a
Nina Tholl single.
- Lakeland was able to tie the game in the ninth and extra innings continued.
- Lewis hit a one out triple in the 11th but was left stranded as the game remained tied 5-5.
- In the 13th,
Lara Salazar singled with one out and scored on a home run from
Bryanna Perez. AU led 7-5.
- As they had done earlier, Lakeland answered in the bottom half of the inning. Four singles and an error saw Lakeland score three times and defeat the Spartans 8-7.
