Extra time needed but Spartans extend win streak to 10

The Aurora University men's soccer team extended their win streak to 10 in a non-conference match-up, as they beat the University of Wisconsin- Platteville Pioneers 3-2 in double overtime.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans jumped into the lead 10 minutes into the game as Justin Rutherford converted a cross from Salvador Garcia and Henry Zehnal into a goal in the lower right corner.
- AU would score again eight minutes later, when Connor Erickson found the back of the Pioneer net off a Spartan corner kick. The goal was assisted by David Cahue.
- Just before half time, the Pioneers cut the Spartan lead to one, as they were able to capitalize on a well placed cross.
- The Spartans lead 2-1 at halftime.
- The second half went scoreless until the 85th minute when the Pioneers tied the game on a deflection off a Spartan defender.
- Regulation ended in a 2-2 tie, sending the game into overtime.
- Both teams were able to create shots in the first overtime, but neither team was able to score, sending the game into a second overtime.
- Four minutes into the second overtime, Matt Napolitano scored the golden goal on a beautiful cross from Christian Duarte.
- AU went on to win 3-2 in double overtime.
