The Aurora University men's hockey team opened the 2019-2020 in the State of Hockey (Minnesota) at St. Olaf College. The Spartans scored three goals each in the first and third period on their way to a 6-2 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans got the scoring started 11:23 into the first period with
Riley Doyon scored an unassisted tally,
- 1:37 later the AU lead expanded with a
Dylan Rauh tally. He got helpers from
Larry Jungwirth and
Jack Jaunich.
- The AU lead grew to 3-0 with 2:24 left in the first on a
Roberts Baranovskis unassisted goal.
- The Spartans led 3-0 heading to the first intermission with
Josh Boyko having to make just one save in the first 20 minutes.
- 3:42 into the second, Olaf scored on a power play.
- AU led 3-1 going into the second intermission.
- 3:55 into the third the Spartans scored a power play goal of their own.
Larry Jungwirth got his second point of the night.
- With 3:49 left in the game, Olaf scored to cut the AU lead down to 4-2.
- Seconds later the Spartans went to the penalty kill and 10 seconds into the kill, Jungwirth scored his second straight goal and AU led 5-2.
- With a three goal lead, the Spartans added to their tally with an empty net tally. The final goal of the night was credited to
Liam Stirtzinger with assists to
Brayden Sampson and
Larry Jungwirth.
