Men's Soccer - NACC Tournament Preview

The Aurora University men's soccer team will enter the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tournament for the 13th straight season. The Spartans finished the regular season with a 13-4-1 overall record and a 10-0-1 record in the NACC. Aurora earned the #2 seed and will host the #3 seed Benedictine University Eagles at Spartan Athletic Park in Montgomery, Illinois on Tuesday, November 5 at 7:00 p.m.
 
The Match-up –
- The #2 Spartans will take on #3 Benedictine University Eagles who AU defeated in the regular season 2-1 in overtime in Lisle, Illinois.
 
All-Time NACC Championships history –
- Dominican has won the NACC tournament 10 of the 13 seasons.
- Dominican University won the 2018 NACC tournament championship over MSOE.
- AU's best finish in the NACC is second-place which came in seasons 2010, 2008 and 2007.
- The second or third seed has won the tournament the last six seasons.
 
About the Spartans –
- The Spartans captured their first NACC regular season championship (co-champs)
- AU is 7-10-4 all-time in the NACC Tournament.
- The Spartans are led by senior Matt Napolitano who has seven goals and three assists.
- Junior Justin Rutherford has a team leading eight goals with one assist.
- Henry Zehnal has six goals and five assists.
- Freshman Jalen Depenbrock mans the keeper position with a 0.92 goals against average, one shut out and an 11-1-1 record.
- 15 different Spartans have tallied at least one goal on the year.
 
About the NACC Opponents –
- #1 Dominican University and the defending tournament champion enters with a 14-2-3 overall record. 
- #3 Benedictine University finished the season with an 8-7-1 overall record and 8-3 in the NACC. BU defeated Concordia Chicago 3-2 in the first round of the tournament.
- #4 Milwaukee School of Engineering finished the season with a 9-6-2 overall record and 7-3-1 in the NACC. MSOE defeated CUW 3-1 in the first round to advance.
 
Up next for the Spartans –
With a win on Tuesday, the Spartans would advance to the NACC Tournament Final on Saturday, November 9. AU would either travel to either #1 Dominican University or host Milwaukee School of Engineering with game time to be announced.
