Spartans clinch NACC title in 62-7 win at Wisconsin Lutheran

The Aurora University Spartan football team clinched the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference Championship with a 62-7 victory at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

RECORDS: Aurora University 8-1 overall and 6-0 NACC; Wisconsin Lutheran College 2-7 overall and 2-4 NACC

With the win, the Spartans clinched at least a share of the 2019 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown catch by Jacolby Maxwell from Gavin Zuimbelman.
- The offense orchestrated a 79 yard drive that ended with a Tyran Bailey touchdown run to put the Spartans ahead 14-0 in the first quarter. 
- Spartan junio Casey Dycus forced a fumble which resulted in a turnover on the last play of the first quarter
- On the first play of the second quarter, Gavin Zimbelman connected with Jacolby Maxwell for a 36-yard touchdown pass. 
- A 32-yard Matthew Evert reception set-up a Brock Harner seven-yard touchdown catch with 3:36 left in the second quarter. 
- Frankie Gordey recovered a Warrior fumble and scampered 18 yards for touchdown. Sean Kerr made the PAT to extend the Spartan lead to 35-0
- The score would remain 35-0 at halftime.
- Keion Adams intercepted a pass on the first play of the third quarter. 
- That interception helped set up a Zimbelman threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Evert to open the second-half scoring for the Spartans.
- Maxwell scored on a 16-yard touchdown pass to extend the Spartan lead to 49-0. 
- The score would remain 49-0 at the end of the third quarter.
- Jonathan Alstott scored on a one-yard touchdown run to put the Spartans up 55-0
- Jhequay Chretin capped off the Spartan scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run. 
- Spartans won by the score of 62-7
 
FOR THE SPARTANS                                                     
- Tyran Bailey had 8 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown
- Gavin Zimbelman was 24-of-38 passing for 347 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 28 yards.
Matthew Evert had seven catches for 143 yards and one touchdown
- Jacolby Maxwell caught six passes for 89 yards. He also had three touchdown receptions. 
- Robbie Peterson led the defense with six tackles
