The Aurora University men's hockey team took to the road and behind a large scoring out put led by
Shawn O'Malley, defeated the Trine University Thunder 7-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans got the games scoring started early when
Jason Recchia scored 1:11 into the contest.
Brayden Sampson and
Liam Stirtzinger had an assist on the goal.
- Trine tied the game five minutes later with a power play tally.
- With just under five minutes to play in the first,
Roberts Baranovskis gave the Spartans the lead back for good.
Danny O'Donnell picked up the assist on the eventual game winning goal.
- AU and
Josh Boyko took a 2-1 lead to the first intermission.
- The Spartans came out in the second period flying around and controlling the action.
- 8:45 into the period,
Shawn O'Malley scored with assists from
Jacob Holmers and Baranovskis.
- AU struck again minutes later after killing off a penalty. 30 seconds after the penalty expired,
Jacob Holmers lit the lamp and AU led 4-1. O'Malley and Baranovskis had assists, the third goal so far on the night for their line.
- In the final minute of the second and on the power play, AU scored for the third time in the period.
Riley Doyon got the tally with assists to
Larry Jungwirth and Baranovskis.
- In the third, leading 5-1, O'Malley earned a hat trick when he scored 2:05 a part at 7:47 and 9:52.
Dylan Rauh, Baranovskis and Holmers had assists.
- The Spartan defensive unit in front of
Josh Boyko made the large lead stand and AU was victorious 7-1.
