HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans traded the lead with Dominican early in the first set but would fall 25-18.
- The second set saw AU trail throughout and lose 25-18.
- Coach Seitelman made a lineup adjustment going into the third set and the Spartans reacted.
- With AU trailing midway through the third set,
James Karwin had back to back aces to give AU a 13-12 lead.
- The Spartans continued on with the momentum and won 25-18.
- The fourth set was nearly mirror of the third but this time it was three straight kills from
Jack Fischer that gave AU a lead midway through the set.
- The Spartans went on to win 25-20 and force the winner take all fifth set.
- In the deciding fifth, the teams went back and forth until an ace from
Justin Yost tied the set 11-11.
- The Spartans took the energy from the ace and scored the next four points and secured the upset win 15-11.
