The Aurora University softball team won a pair of non-conference contests over Wheaton College on Thursday afternoon. The Spartans ran off to a 7-1 win in game one and then were victorious in extra innings in game two 10-4.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- AU took advantage of walks in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead with
Elaine Walker scoring on a sac fly from
Sam Owens.
- The Spartans added to their lead with a big fourth inning. Five hits and a Wheaton error led to five AU runs.
- AU pitcher Steph Renner kept Wheaton in check, allowing just one run in the fifth inning.
- In the sixth,
Sam Owens drove in a run on a ground out to give AU a 7-1 lead.
- The lead would remain 7-1 as the final out was made for an AU win.
SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- The Spartans broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. Three singles, a two-run triple from
Elaine Walker and a run scoring double from
Sam Owens gave AU a 4-0 lead.
- Wheaton scored one run in the sixth on starter
Hannah Tomasko but AU led 4-1 going to the seventh.
- In the bottom of the seventh, the first two Wheaton batters reached and AU called on Steph Renner to relieve Tomasko.
- With one out, Wheaton scored two on a single and AU led 4-3. A two-out single later tied the game.
- Neither team did anything in the eighth inning.
- In the top of the ninth, the AU bats came alive.
- Six Spartan singles led to six runs crossing the plate and AU took a commanding 10-4 lead.
- AU would go on to win 10-4 in extra innings.
