The Aurora University baseball team traveled to Monmouth College and split a non-conference doubleheader, winning game one 6-0 behind a strong complete game performance from
Chris Roycroft and then lost game two 12-5.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- Neither team had a base runner until the fourth when
Jett Wedekind walked with one out and moved to third on an
AJ Gill single. When
Paul Dobravec grounded out, AU led 1-0.
- AU added two more runs in the fifth with
Davis Purviance driving in
Jeff Mayes and
Colin Rivard who had singled to start the inning.
- The runs were more than enough for starting pitcher
Chris Roycroft as he allowed just two Monmouth hits over what would be nine shutout innings.
- AU added another run in the eighth with a lead-off single from
Jeff Mayes and he scored on a
Colin Rivard single.
- In the ninth, the Spartans scored twice more with doubles from
Davis Purviance and
AJ Gill and a run scoring single from Dobravec.
- Roycroft completed the two-hit shutout for his second straight complete game win.
SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- AU took a 1-0 lead in the second game with two singles, an error and a sac fly scoring
Michael Fidler.
- In the bottom of the second, Monmouth scored six unearned runs with two AU errors extending the inning.
- Trailing 8-1 in the fifth,
AJ Gill hit a two-run home run to pull AU to down 8-3.
- Monmouth scored runs in the sixth and seventh to push their lead to 12-3.
- In the ninth, Gill drove in two more runs with a double.
- AU would fall by a final score of 12-5.
