The Aurora University baseball team opened the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with a doubleheader at Lakeland University. AU defeated the Muskies and chilly weather, winning game one 12-1 in seven innings before winning game two 7-2.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- The Spartans posted a six spot for starter
Will King in the first inning.
- Four walks, two doubles and five hits did the damage.
Davis Purviance had a two-run double in his second at bat of the inning.
- Lakeland was able to push across a run in the third but a double play ended the inning with no further damage done.
- AU blew the game open in the sixth inning as all the damage was done with two outs.
- Five hits with a double from
Jeff Mayes and
Davis Purviance had his second two-run double and AU led 11-1.
- In the seventh,
Cole Davis singled and later scored on a Mayes single for a 12-1 AU lead.
- King went six innings, allowing one run and struck out five with
Seth Gutknecht throwing the final inning in relief for the AU win.
SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- AU had base runners in the first three innings but were unable to push a run across.
- In the fourth, the Spartans did some two-out damage courtesy of two walks and a Muskie error. AU led 2-0.

Austin Wiskow singled with one out in the sixth, stole second and then scored on a single from
Davis Purviance for a 3-0 AU lead.
- With two outs in the seventh,
Jeff Mayes singled, stole second and scored on a
Colin Rivard single. One batter later, Wiskow singled to score Rivards and AU now led 5-0.
- Lakeland was able to score a pair in the bottom of the inning to give AU a 5-2 lead.
- AU answered back immediately in the eighth as
Davis Purviance (single),
Jett Wedekind (double) and
AJ Gill (rbi single) started off the inning with a bang. Wedekind scored later in the inning on a sac fly from
Michael Fidler and AU led 7-2.
- Nick Mathey got all six batters out that he faced over the final two innings with three strikeouts. His work gave
Carter Turnquist his third win of the season.
