Ocon earns All-American honors at NCAA Indoor Championship

The 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by University of Massachusetts-Boston at the Reggie Lewis Center saw an Aurora University women's track and field athlete, senior Jocelyn Ocon, compete in the weight throw.

Ocon took on the field of 20 in the shot put event and advanced to the finals, top nine, with her second toss, hurling a 17.65 distance. Her prelim round throw broke her own AU and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference record in the weight throw.

She entered the finals in fifth place with her throw of 17.65. On her second throw in the finals, Ocon surpassed her throw to set a new AU and NACC record mark of 17.97 meters. That record setting throw was good enough to finish fifth in the NCAA women's weight throw.

With her fifth place finish, Ocon earned NCAA All-American honors, becoming the third Spartan women's track and field indoor All-American and the first ever in the weight throw.
