The Aurora University baseball team got a pair of home runs including a grand slam from Davis Purviance to defeat Elmhurst College 14-3 in seven innings.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS / HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first with Davis Purviance reaching via hit batsman and coming around to score on a Jeff Mayes single.
- Elmhurst scored twicd in the bottom of the first to lead 2-1 on freshman starter Nick Malmberg.
- As Malmberg settled in, AJ Gill hit a two run home run in the third to give the Spartans a 3-2 lead.
- The Spartans batted around in the fourth, clubbing out five hits and plating six runs to take a commanding 9-2 lead. Colin Rivard had a two-run single.
- In the fifth, Austin Wiskow, Jett Wedekind and AJ Gill all singled with Gill driving in Wiskow to push the lead to 10-2.
- Jacob Bachio and Rivard singled before a Wiskow walk loaded the bases in the sixth. Purviance then had the big blow of the game with a grandslam, pushing the AU lead to 14-2 and reaching the mercy rule territory in the game.
- Elmhurst would score a run in the bottom of the seventh but AU would be victorious, 14-3.
