The Aurora University baseball team split a NACC doubleheader with Benedictine University in a wild windy pair of games that saw AU fall 17-4 in game one and win game two 8-6.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- AU fell behind 16-0 after 3-1/2 innings with numerous plays seeing the wind cause issues including an inside the park grand slam.
- The Spartans scored four times in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run double from
Dylan White.
- AU fell to BU 17-4.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- The Spartans fell behind 1-0 in the first with the second inside park home run of the day.
- AU answered in the bottom of the first though.
Davis Purviance led off with a single,
Jett Wedekind reached on a walk and
AJ Gill drove in Purviance with a single to tie the game.
Paul Dobravec followed with a double to left center that scored Wedekind and Gill and AU led 3-1. With one out,
Jeff Mayes tripled to right center to score Dobravec and AU led 4-1.
- BU scored twice in the top of the second off starter
Kyle Blunt to give AU a 4-3 advantage.
- In the bottom of the second,
Austin Wiskow led off with a walk and scored on an
AJ Gill single for a 5-3 AU lead.
- BU added a run in the top of the third to make the score 5-4 and that would remain the score into the sixth.
- In the sixth, BU scored a pair of runs and the Spartans trailed 6-5.
- AU responded very quickly in the bottom of the inning with
Cole Davis leading off with a double and scored on a one-out single from Wiskow. After Wiskow stole second, he scored on a double down the right field line from
Davis Purviance and AU had the lead again at 7-6. The whacky plays of the day were not over but this time AU was on the beneficial end.
AJ Gill hit a high fly ball on the middle of the infield between the mound, plate and third base. The BU fielders played the pop up into a single with Purviance coming around to score the eighth run for an 8-6 AU lead.
- Spartan reliever
Nicholas Mathey came into the game and slammed the door on the Eagles, picking up his seventh save with three innings of work.
