The Aurora University softball team extended their win streak to nine games with a pair of victories over the visiting Maroons of the University of Chicago. AU won 4-1 and 7-1.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- AU got the scoring started early with a long two-run home run off the bat of
Josie Bachtell in the bottom of the first.
- Chicago scored an unearned run in the third inning courtesy of a lead-off walk, the first base runner of the day against AU pitcher
Stephanie Renner. Later in the inning, Renner allowed what would be the only hit of the game, a double that scored the only run allowed by the sophomore hurler.
- In the bottom of the inning, a one out single from
Elaine Walker was followed by a double in the right center field gap from
Nina Tholl which saw Walker scurry around the bases for a 3-1 AU lead.
- In the fifth, Walker hit a long home run with one out and AU now led 4-1.
- Renner made the lead hold up as AU won 4-1.

- Chicago threatened in the top of the first with runners on second and third with one out but Spartan pitcher
Hannah Tomasko got out of the jam un-scored upon.
- The Spartans got their offense going in the bottom of the inning with
Josie Lytton driving in two with a two-out double.
- AU added three runs in the second courtesy of three Chicago errors.
- In the third, the Spartans added another run with Walker singling in
Ashley Pittman for a 6-0 AU lead.
- In the fifth, the Spartans approached the mercy rule coming into play with Pittman scoring on a triple to right center off the bat of
Brianna Lewis with one out. AU was unable to score Lewis though and led 7-0 after five innings.
- Chicago added a run in the seventh but AU would win 7-1.
