The Aurora University baseball team split a rescheduled NACC doubleheader at Dominican University, falling in game one 9-5 and responding with a 7-4 victory in game two.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- After the Spartans left runners in scoring position in the first two innings, Dominican scored eight runs in the bottom of the second, aided by two walks, a hit by pitch and three AU errors.
- AU answered in the third with four runs with three coming on an
AJ Gill home run.
- After four innings of scoreless baseball, Dominican scored a run in the bottom of the eighth.
- The Spartans were able to score on run in the ninth but fell by a 9-5 final score.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- The second game opened with controversy as
Davis Purviance hit a ball off the left field foul pole but the umpire called the play foul.
- In the second, the Spartans got on the scoreboard with
Jeff Mayes scoring on a
Dylan White double. AU would leave the bases loaded in the inning but led 2-0.
- Dominican scored once in the second and third to tie the game 2-2.
- In the fourth, Purviance tripled and scored on a
Jett Wedekind sac fly.
AJ Gill the tripled but was left stranded as AU led 3-2.
- Two more runs crossed the plate in the fifth with Purviance driving in a run on a sac fly and Wedekind driving in his second of the day on a single.
- Three Spartan singles and a Star error led to two more AU runs in the sixth and AU now led 7-2.
- Dominican scored a pair in the bottom of the sixth and AU called on Nick Mathey in relief of
Kyle Blunt.
- The play of the day came in the seventh inning for AU. With two Stars on with no outs, the Dominican hitter squared to bunt and popped the ball into the air down the first base line.
AJ Gill made a diving catch and quickly threw to first with
Austin Wiskow covering, Wiskow then threw to
Jeff Mayes at second to complete a triple play.
- Off the defensive momentum, Mathey struck out four of the final six hitters he faced to save his fourth game of the year as Blunt improved to 4-0.
