The Aurora University women's basketball team fell in double overtime at home to Lakeland University on Tuesday night 93-86. In the contest, the Spartans were out shot from the free throw line by 27, as AU went 12-of-20 while Lakeland was 29-of-47.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans trailed 4-0 before an Allie Reichert three got AU on the scoreboard.
- AU then out scored Lakeland 8-2 and led 11-6 with 5:45 left in the first.
- After one quarter, AU trailed 22-18. 
- In what would be the big stat of the game, Lakeland out shot AU from the free throw line in the first quarter 8-10 to 0-1.
- The teams battled in the second quarter with free throws keeping Lakeland in the game.
- Heading to halftime, AU led 40-39 with the visitors having shot 12-of-20 from the charity stripe.
- The AU post players of Meija Rabi (10) and Savannah Johnson (8) led AU in scoring.
- The Spartans pulled away midway through the third quarter on a 10-0 run, coincidentally aided by free throws. 
- Lakeland managed to get within five (56-51) as the third quarter ended.
- In the fourth, AU maintained their lead with 6 minutes to play. Julie Galauner drained a three and AU led 64-57.
- Up by six with 3:10 to play, AU saw the lead dwindle and the game tied 70-70 on three possessions.
- Meija Rabi gave the Spartans a 72-70 lead with 13 seconds to play 
- Coming out of a timeout, Lakeland got a layup to tie the game. 
- AU had a chance in the final seconds but a turnover ended that chance and sent the game into overtime.
- In the first overtime, AU led just once but managed to keep the game within reach when Rabi hit a jumper with 5 seconds left to send the game into a second overtime.
- In the second and final overtime, Lakeland scored 8 of their 10 points from the free throw line. 
- The Spartans had chances but just couldn't capitalize on many offensive rebounds. In the game, AU finished with 23 offensive boards.
- AU fell in a heartbreaker 93-86.
