The Aurora University men's basketball team defeated the Lakeland University Muskies 87-80 on Wednesday night on Lancaster Court behind three double figure scorers led by freshman guard
Shamar Pumphrey. Pumphrey led all scorers with 25 points as Michael Finley added 14 and
Justin Wierzgac added 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- AU fell behind quickly 6-0 as Lakeland hit two quick three's.
- The Spartans answered with an 8-0 run to grab an 8-6 lead. Four different Spartans scored in the run.
- AU maintained a one point lead at 17-16 with 11:45 to go in the opening half.
- Over the next 6:20 of the half, AU out scored Lakeland 26-6 and opened up the largest lead of the game of 21 at 43-22.
- The Spartans used a strong defensive effort to support the run, forcing four Muskie turnovers.
- Lakeland was able to get within 14 heading to halftime as AU led 47-33.
- In the opening half, AU shot 58.3% from the field (21-36), 50% from three (2-4) and was a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line.
- AU would control the lead in double digits for most of the second-half but the pesky Muskies kept hanging around
- With 1:05 left in the game, thanks to one of 17 three-point field goals in the game, AU's lead was down to four at 81-77.
