Spartans exit Harris Cup Playoffs in loss to Adrian

The Aurora University men's hockey team lost 5-3 to the Adrian College Bulldogs in the second game of the quarterfinals in the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs. The Spartans and Bulldogs were tied 3-3 late in the third period, but two late Bulldog goals ended the Spartan's attempts to force a decisive game three. The loss brings the Spartan's 19-20 season to a conclusion.  The Spartans finished the season 12-9-6 overall and 8-6-6 in the NCHA.

BEYOND THE BOX
- AU finished the season with a 12-9-6 overall record, the first above 500 finish in the short history of the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Midway through the first, AU fell behind 1-0.
- With just over two minutes to play in the first, AU drew even on the power play.
- Brayden Sampson scored the ppg with assists from Connor Chilton and Larry Jungwirth.
- 1-1 was the score as the game went into the first intermission.
- Adrian took a 3-1 lead within the first 8 minutes of the second.
- AU would take advantage of the power play later in the period, scoring twice in 1:30.
- Larry Jungwirth scored the first of the two with assists from Adam Keyes and Riley Doyon.
- After a major and game misconduct given to an Adrian player, Brayden Sampson scored his second of the night. Chilton assisted again and the game was tied 3-3.
- The game would be tied 3-3 heading to the third.
- Adrian would score a pair of short handed goals in the third as AU would fall by a 5-3 final score.
