The Aurora University men's volleyball team soared past the visiting Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match on Friday night. The Spartans defeated CUW 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-23)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans trailed 2-1 in the first set and blew the game open from there, grabbing an 11-3 lead.
- A pair of aces from
Emmanuel Chaidez and kills from
Thomas Kovanic and
Jack Fischer propelled the Spartans to a 25-11 opening set win.
- AU led again throughout the second set, jumping out to 14-7 courtesy of four straight CUW errors.
- The Spartans took advantage of 10 attack errors, four service errors and a setting error in the match to win 25-17.
- In the third set, CUW gave the Spartans a battle.
- AU trailed early 7-4 but came back and led 9-8.
- Service aces from
Josh McKinstry and
James Karwin put the Spartans up 14-12 as CUW called their first timeout.
- Over the next several points, the teams went back and forth with an
Austin Bayner kill tying the game 20-20.
- Two
Thomas Kovanic kills and two CUW errors in the next five set points put AU at match point, leading 24-21.
- Kovanic hammered down the final point though after two AU errors for the 25-23 set win and 3-0 match victory.
