The COVID-19 outbreak forced the sudden cancelation of the NCAA winter and spring sports seasons. In the weeks following, the Aurora University athletic department is highlighting senior student-athletes. We began with the seniors from the spring who had their seasons cut short and were unable to have a senior day ceremony, though some senior student-athletes will take advantage of the NCAA granting another year of eligibility to spring sports.
Senior Spotlight: Brady Kauppila (baseball)
Major: Exercise Science
Minor: Physiology
What are your plans after graduation? To attend AU's Masters of Exercise Science program.
What is your most memorable/best academic experience at AU? Experimenting with lab equipment in the Exercise Science lab.
What is your most memorable athletic moment at AU? Dog piling our first conference championship sophomore year (2018).
Other than the sport(s) you play; what other sports activity are you good at? Water Sports, mostly Water Skiing.
Outside of sports, what is your favorite hobby or activity? Traveling to new places.
What is your favorite meal in the cafeteria? Rhonda's Omelets.
What AU faculty or staff member had the greatest impact on you and why? Coach Stevens, Coach DeGeorge and Coach Trudo all showed me the type of passion and dedication it takes to succeed in anything in life, and how to focus on doing it the right way.
What do you enjoy most and least about practice? I enjoy live at-bat days the most, and I hate running like the cross-country team the day after throwing live.
Do you have any pregame rituals? The smoothest handshake with
Austin Wiskow.
What advice would you give to underclassmen at AU? Don't take a single second for granted. Enjoy every part of the game, every bus ride, every game of catch, every win, and every loss.
If you had to listen to one song on repeat forever, what would it be and why? For whom the bell tolls by Metallica, it has me ready to crash through walls.
What is something that people may not know about you but should? Colin Rivard is not actually my twin.
