Balanced Spartan attack silences Sabres

Box Score The Aurora University women's volleyball team returned to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action on Friday night in Thornton Gymnasium againsf the Marian University Sabres. The Spartans used a balanced all-around attack to silence the Sabres in three sets.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS
- AU finished the night with 41 kills and hit .279.
- The Spartans dominated the first set, winning 25-8 while hitting .560 led by perfect four kills sets from Lulu Torres and Addy Gruse.
- The second set was much of the same with AU controlling the tempo and winning 25-14.
- Kate Poellman had six kills with Kaitlyn Beebe having her second straight 13 assist set.
- The third set saw the Spartans pull away once again and led 24-15 before Marian strung off five points before Stasia Brown killed the last point.
- AU won 25-20 and the match 3-0.

TOP SPARTAN PERFORMERS
- Kate Poellmann had 13 kills.
- Lulu Torres had 10 digs and seven kills.
- Kaitlyn Beebe had 38 assists and two aces.
- Addy Gruse had nine kills and three blocks.

Next action for the Spartan women's volleyball team comes on Saturday, October 2 when they host the Jim Coleman Classic Tri-Match with St. Norbert College and University of Dubuque. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m. against St. Norbert in Thornton Gymnasium.
