Spartans move above .500 with third straight 70 point output

The Aurora University Spartan football returned to the road to take on the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. After a slow start to the game, the Spartans exploded for their third consecutive 70 point game, winning 70-29.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans trailed 7-0 with WLC scoring on their opening drive.
- AU drove down the field but four incompletions from first and goal led to a turnover on downs.
- The hosts answered with a field goal and AU trailed 10-0 with the ball when the first quarter ended.
- Three plays into the second quarter, Gavin Zimbelman found the end zone from five yards out to put AU on the scoreboard.
- After the defense forced a turnover on downs, the offense marched 67 yards in four plays with Zimbelman finding Brock Harner from six yards out. After the pat, AU led 14-10.
- A Sean Reyna interception, his fifth of the season set up the offense at midfield. 
- The third straight scoring drive ended with Zimbelman connecting with Michael Boland and AU led 21-10.
- AU led 21-10 going to halftime.
- The Spartans took the second half kick and went to the ground game. Six runs for 65 yards ended with a 24-yard touchdown run from Tyran Bailey.
- The AU defense forced a punt and James Mautino took the ball back 24 yards to the WLC 33 yard line. Three plays later, Bailey found pay dirt from a yard out and AU led 35-10.
- Following a WLC score, the next AU drive began at the 10 yard line. Long plays from Bailey (36 yard run) and Cameron Moore (45 yard catch) moved the Spartans to first and goal from the nine.
- After an AU timeout, Zimbelman found Moore on a nine yard pass and catch. With 6:59 to play in the third, AU led 42-16.
- Scoring kept coming though as WLC answered with a score.
- Not to be out done, AU went four plays and 75 yards for another score. Zimbelman to Moore from 57 yards put AU up 49-23.
- Just before the third quarter ended, the Spartans scored for the fifth time in the period. Zimbelman found James Mautino for a 21-yard touchdown.
- Heading to the fourth, AU led 56-23.
- The first drive of the fourth quarter had Jhequay Chretin run five times for 39 yards and a touchdown, AU led 63-23.
- Later in the fourth, WLC scored to make the score 63-29 and then attempted an on-side kick which was recovered by Tyran Bailey.
- With AU attempting to run out the clock, two WLC timeouts put the Spartans back in attack mode.
- 46 yards on the ground and a one yard dash from Chretin and AU led 70-29.
- The Spartans won 70-29.
