The Aurora University men's hockey team will enter the 2021-2022 season being picked to finish in a tie for fourth in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NHCA) preseason poll while receiving 55 points in the voting.
The Spartan men's hockey team finished the covid shortened 2020-2021 season with a 5-6 overall record and 4-4 in the NCHA . Adrian College has been picked by league coaches to place first in the upcoming Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular season, according to the results of the coaches' preseason poll announced today by the league office.
Adrian finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 16-6-1 record and went 8-0 in NCHA conference play to win the regular-season title. They came out on top of the poll with 80 points and eight of the 10 first-place votes.
St. Norbert College is back in the ice this season and picks up the No. 2 spot, pulling in one first-place vote and 69 total polling points.
MSOE checks in third with one first-place vote ad 62 points, fresh off a run to the Harris Cup championship game last season and a record of 10-7-2. Marian University (12-7-0 overall last year) and Aurora University were deadlocked in fourth place with 55 points each. Lake Forest College (38 points) ranked sixth, with Concordia University Wisconsin (30) seventh. This portion of the poll was closely contested, with Lawrence University eighth (28) and Trine University ninth (25). Finlandia University rounded out the list.
The Spartan men's hockey team opens the 2021-2022 season on Friday, October 29 when they travel to Arcadia University. Puck drop is set for 7:15 p.m. (est) in Glenside, Pennsylvania.
