Second-half comeback falls short for Spartans

The Aurora University men's basketball team used a second-half scoring frenzy to make a comeback that fell just short in a 69-67 loss to Coe College.

How it happened
- The Spartans trailed from the opening basket in the first-half and by double-digits for most of the session.
- Terreon Hopkins led the Spartans with six first-half points off the bench.
- With 12:56 left in the second, AU trailed Coe 52-38.
- A 9-0 lead with two three's from Nathan Yockey and a three from Josiah Sarasty pulled AU within five at 52-47.
- After a pair of Coe free throws put AU down 10 at 60-50, another Spartan run ensued.
- Three point plays from Justin Wilson and Robert Roszkiewicz and a three from Yockey pulled AU to down two at 61-59 with 6:19 left in the second.
- After Coe went up eight, AU had another run left.
- An 8-0 run by the Spartans tied the game when Nolan Boffman hit the second of his free-throws, having missed the first.
- With 42 seconds to play, the game was tied 67-67.
- Coe hit a pair of free throws with 20 seconds left to go ahead 69-67.
- Coming out of a timeout, AU got a three off with time running out but the shot would not go in.
- The Spartans fell by a 69-67 final score.
