With the holiday season quickly approaching, the Aurora University men's hockey program and working with the women's hockey program has scheduled the fourth annual Toys for Tots "Teddy Bear Toss" event during an upcoming home contest.
The AU hockey teams will hold their teddy bear toss game on Friday, December 10 when the Spartan women welcome Concordia University Wisconsin at 3:00 p.m. and the men welcome Trine University at 7:00 p.m. to the Fox Valley Ice Arena. Additionally, a Toys for Tots collection box for a toy drive will be located at the main entrance to the rink. Those wishing to donate a toy, please bring a packaged toy and place it in the collection box.
After the hockey doubleheader at the conclusion of the men's contest, the hockey programs are having a skate with the Spartans on the Fox Valley Ice.
A "teddy bear toss" is popular in hockey this time of year to provide stuffed animals to children that come from less fortunate backgrounds. Fans are encouraged to bring their own teddy bears to the game and throw them on the ice after AU scores the first goal. All bears/stuffed animals will be donated and given to children in need this Christmas season.Â
Example of how the Teddy Bear Toss works for those Spartans fans who are new to this longtime hockey tradition.
